About NAAIA CVA

Welcome to the Central Virginia Chapter of the National African American Insurance Association (NAAIA CVA) in beautiful Richmond, Virginia! NAAIA CVA provides unparalleled access to networking opportunities, mentorship, training, and career development resources.

Where We’ve Been… Where We’re Going
At NAAIA CVA, we draw inspiration from the rich history and extraordinary achievements of pioneers who walked these very streets. Did you know that right here in Richmond, in 1888, William Washington Browne charted the country's first Black Owned bank, True Reformers Bank? This groundbreaking milestone was made possible through an innovative insurance program underwritten by the Grand United Order of True Reformers fraternal and mutual aid society.
But the story doesn't end there. Another visionary leader, Maggie Walker, seized upon the power of insurance to drive progress. Utilizing the platform of the Order of St. Luke, she built a fraternal benefit insurance company, laying the foundation for establishing St. Luke's Penny Savings and Loan, the first woman and minority-owned bank in the entire country!
Today, we invite you to join us as we pay homage to our remarkable past and carve out a future where possibilities truly know no bounds. Together, we have the potential to create history once again. So come, be a part of our vibrant community, and let us empower you to make your mark on the insurance industry.
